Sony NEX-FS700 is a high-end professional 4K camcorder. It can record full HD videos in a range of frame rates up to 60p onto SD card/MemoryStick or via the FMU (flash memory unit) port. The footages are fantastic but if you try to edit the AVCHD MTS footage on FCP, you will find the files are not good for editing in FCP.
Why? First, the 1080 60p is a not a standard video format for editing software including FCP, iMovie. In addition, the recording MTS footage uses AVCHD codec, which is not friendly to FCP or iMovie. Then how can you edit such MTS files? You need to that Apple ProRes MOV is the best codec for FCP and iMovie, so, the best way is to transcode Sony NEX-FS700 AVCHD to FCP MOV. Below I will show you how.
After testing, I find iOrgsoft MTS to ProRes Converter is a workable solution. It can perfectly convert Sony NEX-FS700 MTS files to MOV for FCP without any problem. It provides user-friendly interface and fast converting speed, so, you do not need to wait too long to get the output files.
Read the following passage to see how.
Step 1. Load Sony NEX-FS700 AVCHD files
Drag and drop the MTS videos to the program from your camcorder, you can add many video files one time.
Step 2. Choose output format
After the files are added to the converter, click the format list to check the Final Cut Pro column, several presets for FCP are available, just click one
You will find that, Premiere is also preset, sure, you can also import AVCHD to Adobe Premiere, as well as convert PVR to iPhone
Step 3. Convert Sony FS700 AVCHD to MOV
At last, hit convert to transcode Sony NEX-FS700 AVCHD MTS to MOV.
